This policy explains what TattleTow collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
TattleTow is a parking-complaint alert service operating in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You can reach us about anything in this policy at
support@tattletow.com.
What we collect
- Account details — your email address, and optionally your name, username and city.
- Your phone number, if you choose to receive SMS alerts.
- Watch zone addresses — the Milwaukee street addresses you ask us to monitor.
- Alert history — which alerts we sent you and when.
- Subscription records: whether your subscription is in a free trial, active, cancelled or expired, its start, renewal and expiry dates, which store you bought it through (the Apple App Store or Google Play), and the transaction identifiers that store assigns. Apple or Google takes your payment. We never see or store your card number or other payment details.
- A device push token, if you install the mobile app and enable push notifications.
- Basic security data — a signed session cookie that keeps you logged in, and server logs.
- Device location, only when you ask for it — if you tap "Locate on Map" while adding a watch zone, the app reads your device's position once to centre the map. We use it to help you find your address and we do not store it. Your alerts are based on the address you choose, never on where your phone is, and you can add a zone by typing the address instead.
- Basic device information — if you use the mobile app: your app version, platform, operating system version, device model, and whether push notifications are permitted. We collect this so that when you contact support we can see why an alert may not have reached you, without asking you to dig it out. We do not collect your contacts, photos, browsing history, or any advertising identifier.
- Support messages — anything you send us through the in-app support chat, and our replies, kept so the conversation makes sense next time.
How we use it
We use your address and contact details for the single purpose of monitoring the City of Milwaukee's public parking complaint records and alerting you when a complaint is filed near an address you registered. We use your email for service messages and account recovery, and your subscription record to give you access you've paid for. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data to build advertising profiles.
Who we share it with
We share the minimum necessary with the vendors that make the service work:
- Twilio — receives your phone number and alert text in order to deliver SMS.
- Resend — receives your email address and alert content in order to deliver email.
- Apple and Google: when you subscribe in the app, the App Store or Google Play handles the purchase and payment under its own terms and privacy policy, and tells us whether your subscription is active.
- RevenueCat: our subscription-management provider. It receives your TattleTow account number and the purchase records Apple or Google send about your subscription, so it can confirm your subscription status to us. It processes this data on our behalf and does not use it for advertising.
- Stripe: processed payments for people who subscribed on our website before October 2026. Stripe keeps those past payment records. We no longer use Stripe for new subscriptions.
- Amazon Web Services — hosts the application and database.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it. We do not otherwise share your data with third parties.
Text message (SMS) alerts
Text alerts are optional. You opt in by checking the SMS box during signup, separately from the service disclaimer, and we only text you if you have given us a mobile number and that consent — SMS consent is never a condition of subscribing to TattleTow.
- Message frequency — message frequency varies based on parking-complaint activity near your saved watch zones, typically 0–5 messages per week.
- Rates — message and data rates may apply.
- Opting out and getting help — reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact support@tattletow.com. You can also turn SMS alerts off at any time in the app.
- We do not sell or share mobile phone numbers or SMS consent with third parties for marketing purposes. Phone numbers are shared only with our SMS delivery provider (Twilio) for the sole purpose of delivering the alerts you requested.
We record the date and time you gave SMS consent, so we can show that the messages you receive were ones you asked for.
Where the complaint data comes from
The parking complaint records we monitor are the City of Milwaukee's own records, obtained through the municipal towing system. That data is about complaints and locations, not about you, and we do not send your personal information to the City.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and alert history for as long as your account exists. If you close your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except records we are required to retain for tax or accounting purposes.
Your choices
- You can turn SMS alerts off at any time in the app, or reply STOP to any alert message.
- You can edit or remove a watch zone at any time, which stops monitoring for that address.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account entirely by emailing support@tattletow.com.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Passwords are stored only as bcrypt hashes — we cannot read them. Sessions use signed, HttpOnly cookies that JavaScript on other sites cannot access. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat parking addresses as sensitive and limit who can reach them.
Children
TattleTow is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will email the address on your account before the change takes effect.
